Embassy

The Embassy Deluxe was the Epiphone equivalent to the Gibson Thunderbird. Both were launched in 1963, discontinued in 1969, had identical hardware, but the Embassy lacked the body shape and through-neck of the Thunderbird. They were both long scale instruments and both were priced identically. The modern Embassy electric bass combines classic features from Epiphone's top-of-the-line solidbody bass from the 1960s - the Embassy - with modern features. A 34-inch scale and 4-on-a-side tuner configuration harken back to the years when the original Embassy was made in the Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Embassy was Epiphone's cost-effective dual humbucker bass range from 2004-2008. The modern Embassy bears no likeness to the 1960's Embassy Deluxe or Newport basses.
